About Andrew

I have a MM in Jazz Studies Performance from New York University where I studied privately with Ari Hoenig and participated in ensembles directed by Adam Rogers, Dezron Douglas, and Mike Richmond.

I currently live and work in New York City, where I perform regularly in Jazz, improvised music, r&b, funk, singer songwriter genres. I maintain a small studio of in person students who live in the city.

Prior to living in NYC I lived and studied in Nashville TN. where I received a BA in Commercial Music Performance from Belmont University. While in Nashville I performed regularly and worked on the infamous "Broadway Strip"

I am passionate about helping students break through to the next level in their playing.

About the lesson

I try to provide a holistic approach to learning the drums.
Together we will develop a strong technical foundation on the instrument while learning we work towards learning your favorite music.

Every student has a unique set of skills as well as goals, and each lesson plan is built with those specific circumstances in mind. Wether you are looking to audition for a conservatory, sound better on your weekly bar gig, or are looking for someone to get your child excited about music, I can develop a plan for you.

Specific topics include: Song study, warmups, technique, independence, Genre study.

I have been fortunate to study with some of the biggest names in drumset performance, (Ari Hoenig, Jim Riley, Derico Watson, and more!) I can provide you with the information you need to know in order to reach your goals.

Lessons are available on zoom, or in person in my Brooklyn studio.
