About Leah

I’m a recent Journalism Studies graduate and an experienced tutor, and I really enjoy helping students feel more confident in their studies.

I’ve always loved writing, storytelling and understanding how the media shapes the world around us, which led me to study Journalism Studies at university. During my degree, I developed experience across research, interviewing, news and feature writing, media law and ethics, and critical analysis.

As I’ve recently been a student myself, I understand that university work can sometimes feel overwhelming — whether you’re struggling to get started on an assignment, unsure how to structure an essay, or simply want someone to talk through your ideas with. I aim to make tutoring relaxed, encouraging and tailored to each student.

Outside of tutoring, I’m continuing to build experience as a freelance journalist and writer, so I can also offer practical insight into journalism beyond the classroom, including developing a portfolio, pitching ideas and preparing for a career in the industry.

I’d love to help you get the most out of your studies and, most importantly, feel more confident in your own abilities.

About the lesson

Hi! I’m a recent Journalism Studies graduate with a passion for helping students build confidence in their writing, research and journalistic skills.

Having recently completed my degree, I understand the challenges that come with studying journalism and can offer practical, up-to-date support based on my own academic and industry experience. I can help with areas such as news writing, feature writing, research, interviewing, media law and ethics, journalism theory, critical analysis, essay writing and developing a strong journalistic voice.

Whether you’re struggling with an assignment, preparing for an exam, looking to improve your writing, or simply want some extra guidance throughout your course, I’ll tailor sessions to your individual needs and goals.

My approach is friendly and supportive, with a focus on helping you understand *why* something works rather than simply giving you the answer. I want students to leave each session feeling more confident and better equipped to tackle their own work independently.

I’m also happy to support students with coursework planning, proofreading and feedback, portfolio development, and general advice on studying journalism and preparing for a career in the industry.
