About Laban

Hi! I’m Laban, an Economics undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, and have recently represented team UK at the International Economics Olympiad, in which I placed 87th in the world. I achieved 4A*s at A level and 12 9s at GCSE. I tutor others to achieve the grades they aspire to!

Having recently gone through exams I am able to provide expert and tailored advice, drawing on materials that helped me achieve top grades.

Students can come to sessions with topics they are struggling with in an easy going, conducive environment.

I have experience delivering admissions talks and have conducted over 20 mock interviews for Oxbridge economics applicants for this year’s cycle.

I am passionate about economics and mathematics and want to help others nurture their interest.

About the lesson

For A level and GCSE tuition, sessions would involve setting exercises beforehand, supplementing teaching by going over challenging topics at school and guided practice. I would also provide additional resources that were helpful for me in the past.

Between sessions I set manageable tasks that we will review together and I will provide feedback on how to improve.

My teaching style in economics revolves around real world examples to ensure students are able to grasp abstract concepts and provide context in their essays.

For maths, I focus on understanding and practice. I believe that exposure to a variety of questions in each topic is the trialled and tested way to achieve top grades.

For Oxbridge economics applicants sessions would focus on TMUA and TSA prep, personal statement advice, and, most importantly mock interviews. For university applications I have saved all the resources I used that were indispensable to me, we will look over these and consider how to use them effectively.
