About Bryan

Hello! My name is Bryan, and I am a Master Backgammon player with a passion for this incredible game.
Over the years, I have spent hundreds of hours studying Backgammon board positions, competing at tournaments, and analyzing board positions. What I enjoy even more than winning a hard-fought match is sharing my knowledge with others.
I became a coach because I noticed that many people find Backgammon intimidating or think it is purely a game of luck. My goal is to change that. I love helping new players experience that "aha!" moment when the board suddenly makes sense, the dice become a tool rather than an obstacle, and the true beauty of the strategy unfolds.
Whether you are looking to learn the game completely from scratch, want a fun new hobby, or are an intermediate player looking to eliminate blunders and master the doubling cube, I provide a patient, structured, and encouraging environment to help you reach your goals.

About the lesson

What We Will Cover:

For Complete Beginners (From Scratch)

• The Absolute Basics: Learning the board setup, checker movement, and standard rules so you feel completely confident.
• Opening Moves: Knowing exactly what to do on your very first dice rolls to set yourself up for success.
• The Big Three Strategies: Understanding when to run, when to block (making primes), and when to attack (hitting your opponent).
• Safe Bear-off Techniques: How to bring your checkers home and bear them off safely without leaving last-minute weaknesses.

For Intermediate Players (Leveling Up)

• Demystifying the Doubling Cube: Learning when to accept, drop, or double to control the stakes of the game.
• Advanced Checker Flexibility: How to slot points, build complex primes, and handle difficult or awkward dice rolls.
• The Match Score Mindset: Adjusting your strategy based on the score of the match rather than just a single game.
