About John

I've been working with software for over ten years. I've worked on shiny websites in modern web languages and hidden "backend" applications that had to scale to massive sizes. While I love programming, one of my favorite parts of this career has been mentoring junior developers and helping them build both their hard technical skills and their soft skills. I would love to share my knowledge with you!

About the lesson

I offer an optional free 30-60 minute session for us to get to know each other, your current level of knowledge, and identify goals. Then depending on your needs there are a few ways we can go:

Tutoring: For students that need help with an existing course or program, I'll provide freestyle tutoring sessions where we review problem areas, clarify key concepts, and supplement the course with real-life best practices that will help you succeed in class and beyond.

Coaching: For students that do not already have a specific course, we'll work together to learn key database concepts by working through projects together (I default to the MongoDB-Express-React-NodeJS stack, but we can customize it depending on your goals).
