I have a doctorate in literature and religion and, since 2018, have been working independently as a

About the lesson

My focus for language lessons is on lifelike conversation - "off the books".

On request we can also work with a course book, but I usually produce my own material.

Since I am a literary scholar with a focus on rhetoric, I also enjoy working, depending on my student's language level, with explaining words (but also grammar) in terms of their shades of meaning (what is the difference between "sich entfalten" (unfold), "entwickeln" (develop) and "entpuppen" emerge". To do this, we also look at the linguistic origin of words or their metaphoric meaning so that they get more context and are not "just" vocabulary.

I teach all levels, individually and in changing groups.

Perfect! I´ve been studying and learning German since over 10 years and I reached a proficient level (C2).
In these years I attended several courses, from the traditional Goethe-Institut to Language Courses at my locals Universities in Neapels and Berlin or at German language schools and Volkshochschulen. I experienced many learning resources and tools which I myself use in my teaching repertoire, being a German teacher for international students and scholars.
Here on Superprof I was looking for a teacher with a special concept that could offer me challenging and still instructive lessons to train and further educate my German.

As I came across Laura´s Profile, I was attracted by her competence in Literature and Rhetoric, as I have a background in German Studies and Literary Studies.
Laura is an enthusiastic scholar, a very competent and creative teacher, working with her own material, mostly with realia such as articles and literary texts. Her methods are extremely helpful in improving your rhetoric skills in private tutoring as well as stimulating debates and discussions in small groups. Her philological approach helps you enlarging your vocabulary, diving into the German language and the German ( especially historic, literary) culture, creating connections that improve very naturally your German skills and knowledge. And her enthusiasm and commitment is indeed contagious.

After one year of lessons I can only thank Laura and highly recommend studying with her!
