About Shinobu

Hi, I'm Shinobu! I'm a native Japanese speaker from Japan, and I've been teaching Japanese professionally for over 4 years. I grew up in Japan and later lived in Los Angeles for 17 years before returning to Japan. Because I speak English fluently and have experienced learning another language myself, I understand both the challenges and frustrations that can come with learning Japanese. Over the past 4+ years, I've taught 300+ students and conducted more than 4,000 lessons with learners from many different countries, ages, professions, and backgrounds. I've worked with business professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, military personnel, and professional athletes. I really enjoy meeting people from different cultures and helping them feel more comfortable communicating in Japanese. I believe a good teacher should listen carefully, understand each student's goals, and create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I'm patient, friendly, and serious about helping my students improve. Whether you're learning Japanese for work, travel, everyday life, or simply because you love Japan, I'll do my best to make each lesson useful and enjoyable. I have over 4 years of professional teaching experience, 300+ students, and more than 4,000 lessons, so I know that every learner needs a different approach. My goal is simple: I want you to feel more confident using Japanese after every lesson.
