About Iris

I volunteered as a Japanese language teacher for one year in the United States, where I had the opportunity to help students learn Japanese and introduce them to Japanese culture. I also studied abroad in New York, so I understand what it feels like to learn and communicate in a different language and culture. I know that speaking a new language can sometimes feel intimidating, and I want to make Japanese learning fun, comfortable, and practical. We can also talk about topics you enjoy, such as Japanese food, fashion, travel, university life, entertainment, and everyday life in Japan. Whether you're learning your first Japanese phrases or want to become more confident having conversations, I'd love to help you reach your goals!

About the lesson

I'm currently a university student in Tokyo, and I've also studied abroad in New York. Because of my experience living in both Japan and the US, I understand how challenging—and exciting—learning a new language and culture can be! I'd love to help you feel more comfortable using Japanese in real-life situations, whether you're just starting out or already studying Japanese. What I can help you with * ️ Conversational Japanese * Japanese for travel and everyday life * Japanese for students and studying in Japan * Japanese for job hunting and working in Japan * Japanese writing and grammar * Interview practice * Japanese culture and everyday customs My lessons are flexible and personalized to your goals. We can focus on conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, or anything else you would like to improve. My teaching style I want my lessons to feel more like a conversation with a Japanese friend than a traditional classroom. I'll explain things clearly in English when necessary, but I'll gradually encourage you to use more Japanese as you become comfortable. I also love talking about Japanese culture, Tokyo, food, fashion, entertainment, university life, and what everyday life in Japan is really like! Whether your goal is to travel around Japan, make Japanese friends, study or work in Japan, or simply become more confident speaking Japanese, I'd be happy to help. Let's learn Japanese together!
