About Emily

Hi! I'm Emily, and I recently returned to England after spending eight months living in Chile, where I delivered private English lessons (TEFL certified) to students of different ages and abilities. Teaching English while communicating almost entirely in Spanish helped me develop my fluency and confidence enormously (and if you can understand Chilean Spanish, you can understand almost anything!).

Spanish has always been one of my biggest passions. I graduated with a First Class in Liberal Arts, receiving a Distinction in Spoken Spanish. As part of my degree, I spent a year abroad living, working and studying in Spain, Costa Rica and Chile, giving me experience with both Castilian Spanish and Latin American Spanish. Before university, I also achieved an A* in A-Level Spanish and a Grade 9 at GCSE.

I have a genuine passion for languages, travel and discovering new cultures. Learning Spanish has completely shaped my life, taking me from studying it at school to living in Spain, Costa Rica and Chile, where I met incredible people, experienced different cultures and became confident using the language every day.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy travelling, going to concerts and music festivals, and continuing to improve my own language skills. I'm always excited to meet new people and help them achieve their goals, whatever their reason for learning Spanish.

About the lesson

I offer personalised lessons tailored to your individual goals, whether you're looking to improve your conversational Spanish, strengthen your grammar, expand your vocabulary, prepare for GCSE or A-Level exams, or simply learn for travel or personal interest. Every lesson is adapted to your learning style, making them engaging, relaxed and focused on what you want to achieve.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although I am happy to offer longer or shorter sessions if preferred. I aim to create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and practising your Spanish.

Having learnt Spanish and Japanese myself, I understand that speaking a new language can sometimes feel intimidating. That's why I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and building confidence at their own pace. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to take your Spanish to the next level, I'd love to help you reach your goals.

I know from experience that learning a language can open doors to incredible opportunities, friendships and travel experiences, and I hope to help you enjoy the journey as much as I have! :)
