About Mari
My name is Mari, I graduated in January 2023 with a PhD in infectious disease and genetics from the University of Oxford. I gained extensive teaching and mentoring experience, which was one of the most rewarding aspects of my degree. Since my PhD I have applied my programming skills to developing pipelines analyzing genetic and clinical data related to heart disease, stroke and sickle cell anemia. I'm passionate in making coding accessible to more people so they can go onto use it for good!
Outside of my work I love watching indie films and live music - it's good to have a break from the code!

I specialize in R programming, offering beginner-intermediate level courses on data visualization, statistical modelling and machine learning.
In particular, my style works on understanding the core of computer programming. I've found this makes picking up new languages much easier - so expect to see your skills transfer! I truly believe anyone can learn to code, and once you can the applications are endless.
