About Hisako

Hi, I’m Hisako — a certified Japanese language teacher with over 10 years of experience helping students achieve their Japanese language goals.

Since 2011, I have taught a wide range of learners, from complete beginners to business professionals. In addition to teaching, I have supervised e-learning content, developed customized training materials for corporate clients, and mentored trainee teachers in certified teacher training programs.
I have taught in the UK, the Philippines, and Vietnam, which has given me valuable insight into different cultures, learning styles, and challenges faced by language learners. Because every student is unique, I always tailor my lessons to suit each learner’s goals, pace, and interests.

Whether you are learning Japanese for travel, work, exams, or personal enjoyment, I will support you step by step in a comfortable and encouraging learning environment.

Qualifications
• Completed a 420-hour Japanese Language Teacher Training Course at a government-accredited institute
• Minor Degree in Japanese Language and Literature

Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling and exploring cafés. I love learning about different cultures and exchanging ideas with my students, and I look forward to learning about yours as well.

I teach practical, natural Japanese that you can start using from day one. My lessons focus on active communication, especially speaking and writing, because real progress comes from using the language, not just studying it.

I help students:

• Turn passive knowledge into active skills

My lessons are friendly, structured, and engaging. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner, I tailor each lesson to your level, goals, and interests.

• JLPT preparation (all levels)
• Conversation-focused Japanese
• Travel Japanese for beginners
• Business Japanese

Lessons take place on Zoom and last 60–90 minutes.
I use a variety of materials depending on your needs. As I am based in Japan, I can also introduce you to current, real-life Japanese usage and cultural insights that are often not covered in textbooks.

Perfect! Hisako-san has been exceptional in tailoring her teaching approach to accommodate my strengths and weaknesses effectively.

For the past 4 to 5 years, I have been learning Japanese through flashcards, reading, and some limited listening and speaking practice. While I have invested significant time, albeit intermittently, in acquiring new vocabulary, my focus on grammar and sentence structure has been comparatively minimal. Hisako-san has skillfully adapted her teaching approach to leverage my vocabulary knowledge, thereby facilitating the development of my understanding of grammar and sentence structure.

I've had around 4 lessons with Hisako-san now, and can confidently say that my Japanese has improved a significant amount in quite a short amount of time. She's very interested in answering any sort of questions you might have, and I have personally found that extremely useful!

I am forward to continuing my lessons with Hisako-san going foreward!
