About Kiera
I have been making, sewing and crafting for as long as I can remember. I started taking private sewing lessons from the age of nine and later went on to study Fashion at Heriot-Watt University, where I developed my skills in design, garment construction, textiles and creative problem-solving.
I have always loved hands-on creative work, from crochet and quilting to dressmaking and experimental fashion projects. At 16, I took part in Junk Kouture, creating a dress using materials from Jaguar cars, which was one of the first times I realised how much I enjoyed turning unusual ideas into something wearable.
I now teach beginner to intermediate sewing and quilting lessons in a friendly, practical way. My aim is to help students feel confident, capable and excited about making things with their own hands.

I offer friendly beginner to intermediate sewing and quilting lessons for both children and adults. My teaching style is very practical and hands-on. I find that most people learn best by being shown clearly, then trying it themselves with guidance, so I usually demonstrate each technique first, talk you through the process, then watch and support you while you practise.
Lessons can be based around your own personal project, such as clothing alterations, quilting, dressmaking, or learning how to use your sewing machine with more confidence. I can also create structured lessons to teach you the fundamentals, including machine sewing, hand sewing, seams, hems, pattern reading, fabric handling, cutting, and basic quilting techniques.
I am a fashion graduate from Heriot-Watt University and have been sewing since childhood. I began taking private sewing lessons from the age of nine and continued developing my skills through school, personal projects, quilting, and my fashion degree.
Lessons are suitable for complete beginners, improvers, and intermediate learners who want more confidence, better technique, or support with a specific project. Lesson lengths can vary depending on what you need, but I usually recommend starting with at least one hour. My rate is £20 per hour, plus materials where needed.
