About José
I'm a Bachelor of Fine Arts - specialization in Jazz Studies, by University of Concordia (Montreal) with 10 years of teaching experience and more than 15 of live performing.
I play Jazz, Manouche, Brazilian and Fado Guitar for artists like Suzi Silva and Victoria Malenfant and Bass in bands such as Ultrafox and Space Cowbell.
I've performed at several venues in Longueuil, Montréal and adjacent areas, such as Club Ballatou, La Petite Marche, La Marche à Coté, Quai des Brumes, Petit Campus, Bar de Courcelle, Théâtre Café-Bar Sainte Catherine, Théâtre de la Ville (Longueuil), Centre Culturel et Communautaire Henri-Lemieux (LaSalle) amongst others.

Study plan is paired with repertoire adapted to the students' needs and goals.
Notated and visual elements with adequate audio suport are provided as study material.
On an early stage, my approach is to use songs or music material the student is interested in playing as a means to motivate both the practice of the mechanic aspects of playing the instrument and the theoretical elements present in the music.
On more advanced stages then the student is guided through more specific material and assisted with guided study.
The aim is to build technique, knowledge and musicality towards autonomy in understanding and performing Music.

You're a motivated learner with great practice ethic. Because of that, your development as a musician has been very steady and your skills are becoming more solid every week.
Some technique reinforcement is required so that you can play more relaxed, which will improve your sense of tempo, accentuation and groove.
In my opinion you have moved past the beginner level and are ready to address intermediate topics, which will provide you a better understanding of music theory and more involved bass playing tools.
