About Alex

Hi! I am a friendly undergraduate student with a strong passion for English. English has become my passion over the last two years and as a result I have knowledge of a variety of texts found on the GCSE specification.

Throughout my GCSE studies, I went from being a Grade 6 student to consistently achieving full marks in both English Literature and Language; I have learnt the skills necessary to boost an essay to the top boundaries, and would be excited to share these with others and help others achieve similar grades!

About the lesson

I would suggest a typical lesson length of between 45-60mins (although I am more than happy to accommodate a shorter or longer lesson time) to optimise attention and enthusiasm. I would typically increase confidence by exploring the texts and context of the texts applicable in more detail, if necessary, and perhaps choose some top quotations and inference that can be applicable for a wide variety of themes. However, I think the most important approach is to improve essay technique, something I have an exact formula of which is able to easily boost grades! However, everyone learns differently and has different weaknesses and strengths in the subject, and it is important to adjust and accommodate to what the student needs most :)

Although I have little experiencing in tutoring myself, I have written many high grade essays which has awarded me knowledge on how to perfectly fulfil the mark scheme. Moreover, my own experience with tutoring has given me knowledge on a wide variety of teaching techniques and which ones are more useful.

My pricing is due to the time outside of lessons required to read any novels, discuss insightful analysis with my students and source criticism in order to achieve top grade essays. However, feel free to discuss my pricing with me if necessary, and I'm sure we will be able to find a compromise :)
