About Jasper

Having achieved 4 A*s at A-Level, including an EPQ that received full marks titled It's Not All About the Money: A Discussion of How a Combined Approach to Campaigning Can Create Electoral Benefits', I am studying Politics and International Relations BSc at UCL from September 2026.

If I had to recommend two things to any student: keep your knowledge up-to-date daily by reading Politico's London Playbook and the Financial Times' Inside Politics to actually follow Westminster in real time, and pick up Ian Dunt's How Westminster Works... and Why It Doesn't as well as Chris Bryant's Code of Conduct. This will allow you to go well beyond the syllabus and consistently show up in the strongest essays and interviews I've seen.

Beyond the classroom, I'm engaged in real-world, grassroots politics: volunteering in constituency campaigns and coordinating canvassing sessions. I've interviewed former Supreme Court President Lady Hale on constitutional law and chaired formal debates between sitting MPs. I'm also currently working on a complex campaign, conducting investigative financial research. This grounds my tutoring in the contemporary political reality, having spent the past few years accumulating the examples required to score the top grades.

I co-lead a student events team managing a self-raised budget of over £18,000, which has sharpened my organisation and reliability — qualities I bring directly into how I plan and run lessons.

About the lesson

Lessons focus on a combination of knowledge and application for exam technique: structuring analytical essays, applying theory to real UK and US case studies, and avoiding habits that cost marks at grade boundaries.

Each student starts with a review to identify specific weak points, and lessons are structured around plugging those gaps rather than re-teaching content you already know. This includes structured past paper practice with detailed, mark-scheme-based feedback; targeted essay planning and timed writing drills; and dedicated work on exam technique — how to open a paragraph, weight evaluation correctly, and structure an answer for maximum marks under time pressure.

For the ideologies component of the course, I specialise in Socialism, Conservatism, Liberalism, and Feminism. Note that schools vary in which ideologies they teach, so it's worth checking your school's syllabus and exam board before booking.

Lessons run for an hour. I achieved an A* in Politics at A-Level and study Politics & IR BSc at UCL (September 2026 onwards). I'm engaged in live political campaigning and volunteer as an investigative financial researcher on a complex governance campaign, which grounds my teaching in practical experience beyond the standard A-Level textbook.
