About Elias
I grew up in Switzerland, I studied and eventually earned my PhD in Philosophy, and have spent the better part of my career teaching at universities in Vienna, Innsbruck, and Graz, Austria.
I am, by nature, a fairly relaxed person — I do not believe learning has to be stressful, and I have never seen the point of making someone feel small for not knowing something yet. Philosophy in particular thrives when people feel safe enough to say something a little half-baked out loud. That is usually where the interesting thinking starts.
Fair warning though: I have a tendency to over-explain. Ask me a straightforward question and I will probably answer it thoroughly, then from a different angle, then with a counterexample, then — if you have not stopped me — with a brief historical detour. Students who enjoy depth tend to love this. Students who just want the bullet points learn to give me a gentle nudge.
If you are curious, ambitious, and not afraid of a conversation that occasionally wanders somewhere unexpected — we will get along just fine.

I hold a PhD in Philosophy and have taught at university level for many years, covering topics ranging from classical philosophy and ethics to political theory and economics. My academic background gives me a deep, structured understanding of exactly the material A-Level PPE students need to master.
My approach adapts to you. Some students benefit most from open Socratic dialogue — questioning assumptions, building arguments, thinking out loud. Others need clear structure: breaking down exam questions, practising essay technique, and working systematically through the syllabus. I do both, and I adjust as we go.
What I focus on above all is genuine understanding. A-Level examiners reward students who can think independently and construct original arguments — not those who simply reproduce memorised content. That is precisely what years of university teaching have trained me to develop in students.
Sessions are held entirely online, so we can work together wherever you are in the world. Whether you are aiming for top marks, preparing for interviews, or simply trying to get a confident grip on the material, I will meet you at your level and push you further.
