About Alexandra

I graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Spanish, a B.A. in World Language Education, and a Minor in Psychology. Since graduating in 2022, I have been a certified Pre K-12 World Language (Spanish) teacher in the state of Illinois.

I follow the ACTFL World Readiness Standards for World Language Education. I have worked at the high school level, teaching sophomores and seniors through the TPRS method of language learning. Most recently, I have worked at the middle school level, teaching 6-8 regular Spanish and Advanced Spanish for Dual Language students. For my Advanced classes, I used the textbook Galería A-C.

Aside from professional experience, I come from a family of native speakers with Ecuadorian heritage. The language and its cultures have been around me all my life, so I share a deep connection to them. As a teacher with personal stake in the subject, I enjoy teaching it that much more. Sharing a part of myself and having it be received by students is the best feeling!

I love binge watching my favorite sitcoms, spending time with friends and family, practicing my makeup skills, and playing water polo. Plus, what kind of Spanish teacher would I be if I didn't like to travel!

About the lesson

I am flexible to work on any topic you need/desire.

I enjoy incorporating culture into my grammar lessons. The two work hand in hand to create a well rounded knowledge of real world applications.

Tutoring is catered to the age, proficiency level, personality, and interests of the student. This personalized experience is beneficial for retention and progress.

Using a variety of online tools and digital copies to print at home if desired, I'll get you where you want to be, at your pace.
