About Ibrahim

I am an Economics student at LSE. I have achieved an A* in both Economics and Maths at A-level and have 4 years of tutoring experience for a variety of age groups and subjects. I began by tutoring some arabic students who had recently fled their countries and struggled with the new language. As I speak arabic I helped them reach a level of English where they were then comfortable enough to showcase their academic ability without being held back by a language barrier. From here, I began tutoring Maths to younger students as it was a subject I excelled in and have continued doing so since as I find it very rewarding to help students understand concepts which teachers may not have had enough time to explain to them to a sufficient level, as I have also seen the detrimental effect that skipping over fundamental concepts can have on a student's confidence and therefore academic ability.

About the lesson

I believe that a student is never at fault for not understanding something, only the teacher. For this reason my teaching methodology stems around making sure students understand the fundamentals so that they can enjoy the subject without the anxiety that can linger around subjects in which students don't understand the fundamentals through no fault of their own. I believe in breaking down these things so that they seem less scary to students who struggle with them. On the other hand, some students may find a subject too easy at school and want to learn more advanced Maths/Economics for example, and I seek to provide this opportunity through tuition as again teachers in large classrooms often do not have the time to race ahead with one student or slow down for others.
