About Gloria

Hello! My name is Gloria, and I am a second-year student at the UBC Sauder School of Business with a strong passion for helping students succeed in economics and mathematics. Alongside my studies, I am actively involved in my school’s badminton and fencing teams, which have helped me develop discipline, focus, and strong time-management skills. I also have previous tutoring experience from high school, where I worked with Just For You Tutoring supporting students with coursework and exam preparation. In addition, I have experience working with younger students as a LEGO class instructor, where I led engaging classes that encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Through these experiences, I have developed strong communication and teaching skills, and I strive to create a supportive and structured learning environment where students can build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my goal is to help students develop a deep and practical understanding of economics and mathematics, rather than simply memorizing formulas or definitions for exams.
I am currently a second-year student at the UBC Sauder School of Business, where I study business and economics-related subjects. Because I have recently gone through many of the same courses and challenges that students face, I understand the common areas where students struggle, particularly with concepts such as supply and demand analysis, market structures, elasticity, macroeconomic policy, and interpreting graphs. My goal is to break down these topics into clear, logical steps that students can easily follow and apply.
My teaching philosophy is based on the idea that learning should be interactive, structured, and engaging. Rather than lecturing for long periods of time, I encourage students to actively participate in problem-solving, ask questions, and practice applying concepts in different situations. This helps reinforce their understanding and allows them to build the confidence needed to approach exams and assignments successfully.
