About Mary Mae

Hello and welcome! My name is Mary Mae, and I am a new graduate teacher with a strong passion for helping students succeed in Mathematics and Statistics.

As a teacher, I understand that every student learns differently. Some students may need additional time to understand a concept, while others may benefit from more challenging problems and deeper explanations. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive, and professional learning environment where you can ask questions freely, learn from mistakes, and develop confidence in your abilities.

My teaching style is detailed, patient, and knowledge-focused. I do not simply provide answers; instead, I explain the reasoning behind each solution and guide students through the process step by step. I use clear explanations, practical examples, practice questions, and personalized feedback to make complex topics easier to understand.

For Mathematics, I can help students strengthen their understanding of fundamental concepts, improve problem-solving skills, work through challenging questions, and prepare for tests and examinations. For Statistics, I focus on helping students understand both the concepts and the process behind statistical problems, including how to interpret information and apply the correct methods.

As a new graduate teacher, I bring enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine commitment to my students' progress. I take preparation seriously and make an effort to ensure that each lesson has a clear purpose. Before and during lessons, I pay attention to areas where a student may be struggling and adjust my explanations and teaching methods accordingly.

I believe that learning should be encouraging rather than intimidating. You do not need to be afraid of getting an answer wrong or asking a question that seems simple. Mistakes are an important part of learning, and I will work with you patiently until you feel comfortable with the material.

Whether you are looking to improve your grades, prepare for an upcoming examination, catch up on difficult topics, or simply become more confident in Mathematics and Statistics, I would be happy to support you.

My priority is not only to help you find the correct answer, but to help you understand how and why you reached it. I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals and become a more confident, independent learner.

My Approach as a Tutor
My approach to tutoring is centered on making learning clear, practical, and engaging. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s needs, learning pace, and goals rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. I focus on understanding the student’s current level, identifying areas that need improvement, and then building their knowledge step by step.

Teaching Methodology and Techniques
I combine explanation, guided practice, questioning, and real-world examples to help students understand concepts rather than simply memorize them. I encourage students to actively participate in lessons by explaining their reasoning, asking questions, and working through problems themselves.

I also use regular feedback and repetition to reinforce learning. When a student finds a topic difficult, I break it down into smaller, more manageable parts and approach it from different angles until it becomes clear. My goal is not only to help students perform better academically, but also to build their confidence and independence.

Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous material and a discussion of the student’s goals or any difficulties they have encountered. I then introduce the new topic in a clear and structured way, using examples to demonstrate the key ideas.

The majority of the lesson is dedicated to guided practice, where the student applies what they have learned while I provide support and feedback. We finish by reviewing the main points, addressing any remaining questions, and identifying what the student should focus on before the next lesson.

What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart is my ability to adapt to the individual student. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I am patient, approachable, and focused on finding explanations that genuinely make sense to the person I am teaching.

Rather than simply providing answers, I encourage students to develop problem-solving skills and confidence so they can eventually work independently.

Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are suitable for students who want to strengthen their understanding, improve their academic performance, prepare for assessments, or receive additional support with challenging topics. I can adapt lessons to different levels and learning needs, whether a student needs help with foundational concepts, course material, assignments, or exam preparation.

I am happy to tailor the pace, difficulty, and structure of lessons according to each student’s specific goals and requirements.
