I love teaching and learning, life is fuller when you are doing both, that being said I listen to my students and structure every class differently for each person or group. People have a variety of ways that they can learn, it is important that a teacher recognizes this and can help facilitate learning on every level. Having worked with many students from different backgrounds I have created programs that work for individuals with learning disabilities to students who need to be challenged at a different level. I believe when it comes to art and learning in general, students need to learn 2 core concepts. One is the techniques, how to do something, what are the tricks to doing what you want to do and how can you adapt those techniques to work for you. The second is how to learn and critically think about the problem or challenge that the student is faced with. This is accomplished often through answering specific questions with another question allowing the individual to come to there own conclusions without being streamlined into doing things the same ways as their teacher.
I am a Graduate from the University California Santa Cruz, and the only Canadian to hold a Masters of Fine Arts from UCSC in Digital Art and New Media, which is one of the top programs in this field. My expertise is in Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Dragonframe and Stop Motion techniques. I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Alberta College of Art + Design with a major in Painting, and have taught painting, sculpture, contemporary theory and Environmental/Social Justice Art at the University level. Written work is a paramount foundation to an artistic practice as well, having graded thousands of papers and publishing a Master Thesis I am extremely competent in helping students work through essays, applications and grant processes.
Please contact me to find out what rate you apply for. As the rate changes based on the level of student and need of the lessons. Thank you so much.

Research
My work uses artistic medium to explore the relationships between human and non-human animals meant for consumption. It compares the experience of marginalized people with factory farmed animals, through the lens of personal narrative, animation, collaged video and installation. I examine the concepts of consent, freedom of choice, and the legitimacy of life using art as a vehicle to tackle these difficult subject maters. The installations I create offer an immersive experience for viewers to explore other perspectives in relation to their own. Being part of an interdisciplinary program allowed me to explore the psychological and scientific perceptions of this topic which comes through in my work. I delved into this controversial topic with historical context, scientific backing, compassion, and fresh eyes. It is from this perspective that my art brings new meaning to this topic.
