About Ammar

I am a PhD Engineer, university professor, researcher, and multidisciplinary educator with more than 25 years of experience teaching mathematics, engineering, physics, statistics, programming, and applied quantitative subjects.

I have taught and supported school students, university students, graduate researchers, engineers, professionals, and adult learners. My experience ranges from strengthening essential arithmetic and algebra skills to teaching advanced calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, probability, statistics, numerical methods, and the mathematical foundations of engineering and computer science.

My teaching philosophy is based on a clear principle: mathematics should be understood, not merely memorized.

I explain the theory behind each method, show how formulas are derived or interpreted, connect symbolic calculations with graphs and real applications, and teach students how to verify whether an answer is reasonable. When one explanation is not sufficient, I approach the concept numerically, algebraically, geometrically, visually, or through a practical example.

My expertise includes:

• Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, functions, and precalculus
• Differential and integral calculus, multivariable calculus, and differential equations
• Linear algebra, vectors, matrices, discrete mathematics, and mathematical modelling
• Probability, statistics, regression, and quantitative research methods
• Mathematics for engineering, physics, computer science, economics, business, and data science
• IB Mathematics, AP Mathematics, SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, and mathematics competitions
• Desmos, GeoGebra, Excel, Wolfram Alpha, MATLAB, Python, and graphing calculators

Lessons are personalized to your level, learning style, curriculum, and objectives. I can help you rebuild missing foundations, understand a difficult chapter, complete assignments, prepare for examinations, improve problem-solving speed and accuracy, or study an advanced topic systematically.

My goal is to help you become a more confident and independent mathematical thinker. You should leave each lesson understanding not only how to solve the problem, but also why the method works and how to apply it to new situations.

Mathematics becomes much easier when formulas are connected to their meaning, graphical interpretation, logical structure, and practical application.

My lessons help you move beyond memorizing procedures. You will learn how to understand a problem, identify the relevant concepts, select an appropriate method, organize your calculations, verify your answer, and explain your reasoning clearly.

Each lesson is adapted to your current level, curriculum, textbook, assignment, examination, and learning objectives. We begin by identifying your strengths, knowledge gaps, recurring errors, and the specific results you want to achieve. We then establish a structured learning plan that may focus on immediate difficulties, systematic course coverage, examination preparation, or advanced mathematical development.

The first free lesson combines a discussion of your background, objectives and tutoring needs, an initial assessment of your current knowledge, personalized planning and scheduling, and a short trial lesson so that we can determine the most effective way to work together.

A- FOUNDATIONAL MATHEMATICS
• Numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions, powers, roots, and order of operations
• Arithmetic reasoning, estimation, mental calculation, measurement, units, and word problems
• Building the foundations required for algebra, geometry, statistics, and higher mathematics

B- ALGEBRA
• Algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, identities, factorization, and systems of equations
• Linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions
• Sequences, series, mathematical modelling, graphs, transformations, and applications

C- GEOMETRY AND TRIGONOMETRY
• Plane and solid geometry, angles, triangles, polygons, circles, coordinate geometry, area, surface area, and volume
• Similarity, congruence, geometric proofs, vectors, and spatial reasoning
• Trigonometric ratios, identities, equations, graphs, sine and cosine rules, and practical applications

D- FUNCTIONS AND PRECALCULUS
• Function notation, domain, range, inverse functions, composite functions, and transformations
• Polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions
• Limits, sequences, series, vectors, matrices, and preparation for calculus

E- CALCULUS
• Limits, continuity, derivatives, differentiation techniques, and applications of derivatives
• Curve analysis, optimization, related rates, motion, and approximation
• Integrals, integration techniques, areas, volumes, differential equations, sequences, and series

F- LINEAR ALGEBRA AND DISCRETE MATHEMATICS
• Vectors, matrices, determinants, systems of linear equations, vector spaces, eigenvalues, and eigenvectors
• Logic, sets, relations, functions, combinatorics, graph theory, recurrence relations, and proof techniques
• Applications in engineering, physics, computer science, data science, and economics

G- PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS
• Descriptive statistics, probability rules, counting methods, random variables, and probability distributions
• Sampling, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and interpretation
• Statistical reasoning for school, university, research, business, engineering, and data-analysis applications

H- EXAMINATION AND COMPETITION PREPARATION
• IB Mathematics AA and AI at Standard and Higher Level
• AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, and AP Statistics
• SSAT, SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE Mathematics, and other agreed entrance examinations
• AMC, Canadian mathematics contests, and structured problem-solving preparation

I- MATHEMATICAL TOOLS AND SOFTWARE
• Scientific and graphing calculators
• Desmos, GeoGebra, Microsoft Excel, Wolfram Alpha, MATLAB, Python, and other appropriate mathematical tools
• Software is used to explore concepts, visualize relationships, verify calculations, and support modelling—not to replace mathematical understanding

A typical lesson may include a diagnostic review, explanation of the underlying theory, worked examples, guided problem solving, independent practice, error analysis, and verification of the final result.

I use numerical, algebraic, graphical, geometric, verbal, and applied explanations because the same mathematical idea may become clear through different representations.

You may bring your own textbook, course notes, homework, past examination, project, or syllabus. I can also create structured examples and exercises adapted to your level.

My objective is not merely to help you obtain one correct answer. It is to help you recognize mathematical structures, understand why a method works, avoid recurring mistakes, and solve unfamiliar problems with increasing confidence and independence.

Details

The first free lesson is a structured introductory and trial session. We will briefly introduce ourselves—including your academic or professional background and my relevant expertise—clarify your objectives, deadlines and tutoring needs, and assess your current knowledge through discussion and a short diagnostic activity. We will then establish a focused learning plan and schedule for future lessons. The remaining time will be used for a short trial lesson on a representative concept or problem, allowing you to experience my teaching approach before deciding whether to continue.
