About Melissa

I have completed the psychology pathway myself, including a Master of Professional Psychology at the University of Melbourne, so I understand firsthand how demanding and competitive the process can feel. I know the pressure that comes with maintaining strong grades and meeting progression requirements.

I have also worked as an academic tutor, which means I understand assessment criteria from the marker’s perspective. I know what examiners are looking for and how small shifts in structure, clarity and argument can significantly improve results.

Students often describe me as clear, calm and structured. I am skilled at breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and helping students build confidence in their thinking. I take professionalism seriously, come prepared to sessions, and provide honest, constructive feedback.

I genuinely enjoy psychology and value thoughtful discussion. My aim is to create a supportive but focused learning environment where students feel capable, organized and clear about how to improve.

About the lesson

I offer structured, practical tutoring tailored to each student’s goals. Many psychology students understand the content but struggle to translate that understanding into strong written work or high-quality exam responses. My focus is on helping students think clearly, organise their ideas, and respond directly to assessment criteria.

As a former academic tutor, I understand how marking rubrics work and what examiners are looking for. We can work explicitly with the rubric to ensure your answers are clear, analytical, and aligned with grading expectations.

I understand that psychology is a competitive pathway, and strong academic results matter. But learning how to approach tasks strategically can reduce stress and build confidence.

Lessons typically run for 60 minutes and are collaborative and focused. We might refine essay structure, improve clarity and academic tone, prepare short-answer responses, or develop effective study and revision strategies. I provide specific, detailed feedback and practical steps for improvement.

I am a Master of Professional Psychology graduate from the University of Melbourne and have supported undergraduate students in developing academic writing, critical thinking, and assessment skills.

Lessons are suitable for VCE Psychology students and university students at undergraduate level, including mature-age students returning to study.
