A summary of a lesson plan for a typical Spanish lesson would be:
1. Start with a clear learning target. Define a clear learning goal from the students' perspective. For example, "I will be able to understand and use the verb “ser/estar” in basic present, past and future tense in real life situations"
2. Have a "do now" or warm up at the beginning. Draw situations when the academic content of the lesson works as a way to communicate effectively in a daily life situation. Exemplify a situation at work, public spaces, or home, where students would feel interested about the new topic.
3. Make it interactive. When practicing the use of the verb "ser/estar", engage students in the writing, listening, and speaking process of building past/present/future tense sentences, and vocabulary, in familiar scenarios to the student.
4. Have an "exit ticket". How Do I know if students met my learning target? Asking concluding questions about the value of the new concepts we studied. Ask students conclusions and comments about how they would apply the new knowledge to solve relevant situations in their daily lives.
