I always start from homework help. This is a great way to know the teacher's expectation and each student's unique idiosyncrasy and detailed demand for specific help. This is the advantage of 1-on-1 tutor. The tutor gets to know the student's details in each step when solving a problem.
Once that's been resolved, I will provide an overall picture to summarize the knowledge structure of each section so that the student will have an organized memory structure of the material.
