About Eugene
My name is Phathisizwe Sonto and my journey with Math and Physical Sciences didn’t start with success, it started with confusion and self-doubt. In high school, I struggled to grasp the concepts, the pressure to fit in often made me doubt my own abilities. Many peers would say these subjects were too hard or ‘not for us,’ which made me question if I was capable. But in matric, I decided to block out those voices, focused on my own learning and gave myself the time and patience to engage deeply with the material and slowly everything started to click. That experience taught me that believing in yourself and not giving in to negative peer pressure is key. Now, as a tutor, I’m passionate about helping students overcome similar challenges by building their confidence and showing them that success is within their reach.
