About Atlee
I am a 27-year-old violist from the US. I received my Bachelor's in Music from the Oberlin Conservatory studying under Peter Slowik, and my Master's of Music from the Royal College of Music in London, studying under the renowned Simon-Rowland Jones. I have soloed with the Northeast Orchestra in Texas, and been a part of multiple professional orchestral viola sections throughout the US and UK. In 2022, my work took me to the Cayman Islands for two years, where I taught a studio of 65 students per week. I have recently moved to Australia, and looking to teach the next generation of violists and violinists! Teaching viola is more than just sharing technique or repertoire — it’s about helping students discover their own voice through music. I’m passionate about teaching because I know firsthand how transformative learning an instrument can be. It builds confidence, patience, and creativity — qualities that go far beyond the practice room.

As a dedicated viola instructor, I offer personalized lessons designed to support each student’s musical growth—whether you're a beginner exploring the viola for the first time or an advanced player refining your technique and musical expression.
My lessons are structured to balance technical development, musicality, and enjoyment. Each session typically includes:
- Warm-ups and technical exercises: We start with scales, arpeggios, and etudes to build strength, flexibility, and tone production.
- Repertoire work: I guide students through pieces that suit their level and interests, focusing on interpretation, phrasing, and stylistic understanding.
- Sight-reading and ear training: These elements help improve musical fluency and confidence.
- Customized goals and feedback: I tailor each lesson to the individual, setting achievable goals and offering constructive, encouraging feedback.
Whether preparing for auditions, exams, or simply playing for fun, I aim to create a positive, focused, and inspiring learning environment. Lessons are available for all ages, and I welcome students from a variety of musical backgrounds.

My child worked with Atlee to get ready for his AMEB Grade 6 exam and she was such a great support. She gave really helpful tips for practice and made sure he felt confident going into the exam. We’re really thankful for her help!
I learned violin with her for two years and she really helped me improve my technique, especially my bow hold and scales. She explained things in a way that made sense and made the lessons enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone wanting to learn violin.
My daughter has been learning viola with Atlee for the past few months and we’ve been so impressed with her teaching. We’ve already noticed a big improvement and would happily recommend her to other families.
I've been taking viola lessons with my teacher for about six months now, and the progress I've made has been incredible. I started as a complete beginner, and I'm now close to finishing my first book, something I didn't expect to achieve so quickly.
She is not only kind and encouraging but also incredibly structured and knowledgeable in her teaching. Every lesson feels purposeful and motivating, and she always takes the time to explain concepts clearly while challenging me to improve each week.
If you're thinking about starting viola lessons or looking for a teacher who truly cares about your growth, I highly recommend taking a lesson with her. I'm so grateful to have found such a supportive and skilled teacher!View more recommendations
