In todays world, why do you think students need a private coaching? Main reason is that, in schools and colleges there are very few teachers who feel the need to improve their teaching skills. They always feel that they know everything. On the other hand private coaching class is a business and your business only works well when you are the best and also when you keep your skills updated. This is the reason why we see students turning towards coaching institutes.
Now, coming to your question I will tell you about good teaching methods that coaching institutes use. First of all, create the interest of your students in the subject. This can be easily done by asking some practical question related to the topic while starting it and letting the students answer. Now when they start to rack their brain on the subject, introduce the topic to them and relate it. This creates a desire to learn. Now your next job is to keep students concentrated towards you because if your students are paying continuous attention towards your explanation on topic, they will surely understand it.
Ya.. For this you should also have good communication skills and I would recommend you to teach in the regional language if every student knows it. This makes them more comfortable.
Also crack some good jokes in between, talk on general topics, share your experiences in life or any such thing. Don't make the lecture long and boring. Rather make it interactive. Make your students speak and take care not to make fun of them or scold them if they are wrong, infact neither let other students laugh if someone makes a mistake. If one student is being laughed at, no other student will dare to speak freely or ask doubts and this will be a major issue.
