About Kaitlyn
I have been in love with math since fifth grade. I knew that this was the correct path for me for most of my life. Now, it's my turn to help you find that same love! (Or maybe just enough to pass that class). I am a Junior Math and Astrophysics major at UCSC in Santa Cruz and am very laid back and low pressure, but efficient and effective in my lessons. Each student is a unique individual and is at a different level of comfort with their journey with Math.
As such, each student will be taught slightly differently to whatever techniques help them absorb the most information the most effectively and efficiently possible.

I understand Math is frustrating! Math is one of the only subject that truly has a correct, and an incorrect answer. But, that doesn't mean you have to struggle!
My approach is very centered on treating each problem like a puzzle. Memorizing which pieces go where works, but is very hard to replicate. Instead, we can look at problems like we would follow a recipe in a kitchen. By far the most effective way to learn math, all the way into upper division, is to approach each problem with a general set of tools that individually we understand very well. Using these, we can start to get more comfortable with using those tools in tandem with each other to solve all types of problems instead of a specific memorized form.
Approaching math in this way allows us to see problem sets as something entirely different than just a bunch of hard busy work and can develop an entirely new appreciation for any and all levels of mathematics.
My lessons are mainly for middle through high schoolers or some undergraduate college students in any classes up until ordinary differential equations, linear algebra, and multivariable calculus.
