About Meghan
Hello! My name is Meghan, and I am an undergraduate mathematics specialist student at the University of Toronto. I am passionate about math and education, and am a peer mentor for first year students at my university. Some of my other hobbies include writing and drawing, and I am taking a minor in psychology. I have significant tutoring experience in mathematics with the Frontier College Hammer Heads program, where I acted as a tutor and small group teaching assistant in grade 12 mathematics for apprentice construction workers looking to obtain their GEDs. I am also currently privately tutoring high school math. I have been hired as a Peer Tutor at the University of Toronto next fall, where I will be tutoring first year university calculus (MAT135/136/137).

My approach to tutoring is to focus on concepts, not just memorization. I usually start my tutoring sessions by taking a quick look through whatever worksheets or textbook they have for the day, understanding what they are currently learning, and asking them what they would like to focus on. I believe that practice questions are integral to learning math, so I try to minimize the time spent on telling the student how to do problems and instead focus on helping them figure it out themselves. This way, they are able to better understand the concepts and perform well when I am not there to help them.
