About Phillip
I have a B.S. degree in mathematics from New Mexico State University, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematical sociology from the University of Colorado (Boulder), and post-doctorate in mathematics education from Johns Hopkins University. My work at Johns Hopkins ended in successful summer math preparation programs at schools in Baltimore, MD and Harrisburg, PA.

I work to make math concepts "up close and personal" for my students by telling humorous math stories and engaging students in doing math thinking on their own and in their own way. I make math concepts "up close and personal" so that students learn procedures in a connected and accessible way. I mostly teach Algebra 2 and Precalculus on the high school level.
