About Raphael

Hi! My name is Raphael, and I am currently an undergraduate Mathematics student at the University of Toronto. I have always enjoyed mathematics and problem-solving, and I especially enjoy helping others understand concepts that may initially seem difficult or confusing.

Throughout my high school years, I tutored other high school students in mathematics and worked with students with different levels of understanding. Through these experiences, I learned the importance of being patient, approachable, and able to explain concepts in ways that make sense to each individual student.

Outside of academics, I enjoy music, fitness, and spending time with friends. I am excited to meet new students, help them improve their math skills, and hopefully make mathematics a little less intimidating along the way!

About the lesson

Math can be frustrating and intimidating, and my goal is to help students push through learning barriers and develop a genuine understanding of mathematics.

My focus is not simply on getting the right answer, but rather on making sure students conceptually understand how and why a method works. I adapt each lesson to the student's individual learning style and adjust the pacing according to their goals. Whether they need help catching up in class, preparing for a test, or want to get ahead, every lesson will be a personalized experience based on their needs.

A typical lesson plan involves the student sending me any homework or other assignments that they need help with. Before going through the assignments, I would explain any key concepts and methods that I notice, and then answer any questions the student has to help them gain a better understanding of the material. From there, we would work through the problems together step by step, guiding the student through the problems at their own pace. This allows us to spend more time on challenging topics without wasting time going through material they already understand.

As a current Mathematics student at the University of Toronto with previous tutoring experience, I bring both a strong academic background and valuable experience in explaining mathematical concepts. As a student myself, I understand the struggles that come with learning math and preparing for exams, and my goal is to create a comfortable environment where students aren't afraid to ask questions.

My lessons are available for elementary, middle school, and high school students at a variety of skill levels. The classes and concepts I offer lessons for include:

* Geometry
* Algebra
* Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus
* Calculus 1
* Introductory Statistics
* Elementary-level Math
* Middle School-level Math

Whether you're struggling with math, aiming to improve your grades, or simply want to feel more confident in the classroom, I would love to help you reach your goals and make math feel much more manageable.
