About Tara
I have 20 years of experience teaching math, which has given me a deep understanding of how to help students succeed. I genuinely enjoy inspiring others and building their confidence in math, helping them realize their potential. I make it a point to relate math to the real world, turning abstract concepts into practical, relatable lessons that feel meaningful. As a strategic thinker, I carefully plan my approach to align with each student’s unique needs and goals. I’m supportive and encouraging, always celebrating progress and helping students see mistakes as valuable opportunities to learn. I take a methodical approach, breaking down complex problems into clear, manageable steps to ensure understanding. Most importantly, I’m patient and steady, working through challenges calmly to help students overcome their frustrations and develop a genuine appreciation for math.

When I teach math, I start by assessing the student’s current knowledge, identifying their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of difficulty through questions and reviewing their past work. I establish clear goals by setting short-term objectives for specific skills and long-term goals tied to their broader needs, like improving grades or passing an exam. I break down concepts into manageable pieces, starting with foundational ideas and using real-world analogies or visual tools to make them relatable. I also employ multiple teaching methods, such as step-by-step problem-solving and interactive activities, to cater to their unique learning style.
I focus on building the student’s confidence by celebrating their progress, reinforcing their efforts, and helping them see mistakes as a natural part of learning. I provide plenty of practice with problems that gradually increase in difficulty, assign manageable homework, and encourage timed drills when needed. During sessions, I offer constructive feedback, guide them in self-correcting, and adjust my approach based on how they respond. Finally, I reinforce their learning by summarizing key points, reviewing past topics regularly, and using test simulations to ensure they feel prepared and confident.

Perfect! My daughter was super excited when the lesson ended. She said that she learned a lot and got good helpful information from Tara for Geometry. Purchase your pack with Tara. She communicates well and is very prompt. She understood and met the needs of my teen as her student...Very Important.
- Raelyn is great at the arithmetic portion of each problem and great at understanding why each step/relationship occurs. Raelyn did struggle at remembering the steps, but just needed more examples.See the response Tara :
