About Terek
I'm Terek — a biomedical toxicology graduate from the University of Toronto, currently training as a member of Canada's national rowing team while building out a tutoring practice on the side.
I bring the same discipline to tutoring that I bring to training: show up prepared, track progress honestly, and adjust the plan when something isn't working. Balancing a full academic course load with elite athletic training has taught me a lot about learning efficiently when time is tight, and that's built directly into how I teach.
I also serve as Athlete Representative for Rowing Canada, which has sharpened a skill that matters just as much in tutoring: listening for where someone is actually stuck, rather than assuming I already know.
You can expect sessions that are organized, responsive, and genuinely focused on your goals — whether that's passing a course, shoring up a shaky foundation, or getting ahead before a tough term starts.

I tutor math from basic algebra through intro calculus, plus biology and a good range of chemistry. My background is in biomedical toxicology, so I've spent a lot of time in exactly the kind of material students are usually struggling through.
My approach starts with finding the specific point where things stopped making sense — most students haven't lost the whole subject, just one link in a chain, and everything built on top of it feels shaky as a result. I rebuild that piece first, then move forward. I lean on worked examples: I'll solve a problem out loud, narrating the reasoning, then hand the next one over and watch where the logic breaks. That tells me more than asking directly ever does.
A session usually opens with a quick check on what's due, a short review of the last problem set, then new material — with me talking less as we go, since I want to see independent attempts before the hour's up. I send off two or three problems to try alone before the next session.
What sets me apart is range: I can connect the math to the biology or chemistry it's attached to, so a derivative or rate equation isn't just a computation but something tied to what the student is actually studying. I also train and compete as a national-level rower, so I know how to fit real study time into a schedule that doesn't have much slack.
Good fit for high schoolers prepping for exams, undergrads in intro science courses, or anyone shaking the rust off before a placement test.
