About Brentin
My name is Brentin Hobson. I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate and I am currently completing my Honors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
I am genuinely passionate about teaching because I clearly remember how challenging the transition from school to university-level engineering can be. I love helping students overcome these difficulties by making complex concepts simple, logical, and actually enjoyable to learn. Seeing a student go from feeling confused or overwhelmed to confident and performing well is what drives me to teach.
I bring both strong academic knowledge and real tutoring experience to every lesson. During my undergraduate studies, I was selected as a tutor in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at TUT, where I gained valuable experience helping students with Mechanics. This has given me fresh insight into the common stumbling blocks students face and exactly what is expected in tests and exams.
I am professional, patient, well-prepared, and fully committed to every student’s success. Whether you need help building a strong foundation, catching up on work, assignments, preparing for exams, or aiming for distinctions — I am here to support you every step of the way.

My approach to private tutoring is clear, structured, and highly student-centred. I specialise in breaking down complex engineering concepts into simple, logical steps so that students not only pass their modules but truly understand and gain confidence in the material.
What makes me unique as a teacher is my combination of strong academic background and real university tutoring experience. As a Mechanical Engineering graduate currently completing my Honours, I previously worked as an official tutor in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at TUT. This gives me fresh insight into exactly how lecturers teach and what examiners look for in Statics and Dynamics.
I am proficient in English and able to teach comfortably in English.
