About Emma

I am currently a 2nd year medical student at the University of Southampton. I am an easily approachable and friendly tutor with a passion for the sciences and maths. Having undertaken my A level examinations just a year ago I have a strong grasp of what is required to obtain top marks with the new A level specifications. My experience tutoring biology, chemistry and Spanish for the past 4 years has also given me a solid grasp on the new GCSE specifications also. My aim is to help my students to develop not only confidence but also enjoy the subject they may presently be struggling with.

About the lesson

I have always had a passion for science and learning and hope that I can share my enthusiasm and knowledge with the students I tutor. I think that the best way to learn is by really understanding the concepts behind the course content. This will allow you to apply your knowledge to situations you may not have come across in the classroom and will also make answering exam questions far less daunting. I therefore want to tailor my sessions around concepts you find particularly challenging which we can go through together, a piece at a time, until you know them inside-out.
Having been sitting exams for years, I know how scary preparing for and sitting exams can be. Over the years I have found that exam technique is a highly beneficial skill to practice in order to excel in exams. I hope to share my tips and experiences with you to help you answer questions to the best of your ability. It would therefore be a great benefit if you share with me any questions you aren’t sure about or let me know if you would like some guidance on how to go about answering exam style questions.
While exam practice is really important, I hope that during my sessions you will gain skills and knowledge that you can carry with you throughout your academic career.

Great tutor, really breaks everything down according to spec and makes everything easy to learn. Well informed on all topics and always answers questions fully. Would really recommend if your looking for someone to give you structured and relevant lessons, no matter the time frame till your exams. If you don’t understand she is happy to go through it as many times as you need her to. Always happy and smiley and made me feel very comfortable.
