About Khaliq

Hi, I'm Khaliq. I'm a third-year PPE student at the University of Edinburgh, and before that I spent two years studying Medicine also at Edinburgh. So I've been through the medical school admissions process myself (UCAT, personal statement and interviews). I know how stressful it is, and I know what actually helps.

That background gives me an unusual mix. I've seen Medicine from the inside, and my degree now trains me in ethics and argument, which are exactly the skills interviewers test. I'm predicted a First, and alongside my studies I work as a sports coach, so I'm used to teaching people of different abilities and giving feedback that's clear and encouraging.

I'll always arrive on time with a plan for the lesson, and afterwards I'll send you short written notes so you know exactly what to work on next. I'll also be honest about where your answers are, because that's what gets you ready for the real interview.

If you're not sure whether I'm the right fit, send me a message and we can have a quick chat before you book.

I help students prepare for medical school interviews, both MMIs and traditional panel interviews. I studied Medicine for two years before switching to PPE at the University of Edinburgh, so I've been through the admissions process myself and remember exactly how nerve-racking it feels.

Our first lesson starts with a short mock interview so I can see where you are. After that, each lesson focuses on these areas:

- Why you want to do Medicine
- What you actually learnt from your work experience
- Ethical scenarios, role-play stations, and current NHS issues

I don't give out scripted answers, because interviewers can spot them straight away. Instead, I teach simple structures that help you organise your thoughts under pressure. Then we practise with timed stations, and I give honest, specific feedback after each one. Between lessons I usually set something small, like reading a health story in the news and being ready to discuss it. As your interview gets closer, we run full mock circuits so the real day feels familiar.

Lessons are usually 60 minutes, which leaves time for several practice stations plus feedback. Full mock MMI circuits run for 90 minutes. Lessons are online, or in person in Edinburgh.

PPE has given me a strong grounding in ethics and argument, which helps with the ethical scenarios many applicants find hardest. Alongside my degree I work as a sports coach, so I'm used to explaining things clearly, giving feedback people can act on, and keeping sessions encouraging. I've also been through competitive interviews for finance internships, which has taught me a lot about staying calm and structuring answers under pressure.

Lessons are for students in Year 12–13 (England) + S5–S6 (Scotland) applying to UK medical schools, as well as gap-year applicants. I'm happy to start whether you've just submitted your application or already have an interview date.
