Hi! I’m an online psychology tutor and a mental health counseling graduate student dedicated to helping students truly understand psychology—beyond memorizing definitions. Once students understand the "why" behind a concept, the memorization becomes easy and meaningful. Guided Inquiry & Socratic Dialogue I ask targeted questions that guide students to uncover answers on their own. This builds critical-thinking skills essential in psychology and counseling education. Evidence-Based Examples I connect textbook theories to real-life examples, case studies, and research findings, helping students see how psychology applies to everyday behavior and clinical contexts. Active Learning We use diagrams, comparison tables, scenario analyses, mini-quizzes, and practice problems to reinforce comprehension. Strength-Based Support My counseling training informs a supportive and patient teaching style. While I don’t provide therapy, I do create a calm, judgment-free space that empowers students to learn confidently. A Typical Lesson Plan Every lesson is customized, but a standard session often looks like this: 1. Check-In (3–5 minutes) We briefly review goals, recent challenges, and upcoming assignments or exams. 2. Concept Review (10–15 minutes) I clarify key theories or models covered in class—such as cognitive development, biopsychology, learning theory, abnormal psychology, or research methods. 3. Deep Dive & Application (15–25 minutes) We explore the topic through: case examples guided problem-solving comparing theoretical perspectives interpreting study results breaking down DSM-5 concepts (for academic purposes only) 4. Practice & Skill Building (10–15 minutes) Depending on the student’s goals, we might: complete practice questions prepare for an exam work on writing skills for psychology essays plan or refine a research proposal review class notes for clarity and structure 5. Wrap-Up & Study Plan (5 minutes) I summarize key takeaways and help the student create a short study plan or next steps.
