About Kidus
Hi, I’m Kidus—a recent MIT graduate in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and a QuestBridge Scholar. I’ve worked at MIT Admissions and currently serve as an MIT Educational Counselor, where I interview applicants and evaluate applications. I know firsthand how overwhelming academics and college prep can be, especially for ambitious students from underrepresented backgrounds. I bring not only subject expertise, but also mentorship, structure, and empathy to every session. Whether you're aiming for top-tier schools, working on essays, or mastering tough coursework, I'm here to help you feel confident, capable, and prepared. You can count on me to show up professionally, communicate clearly, and tailor every lesson to your goals.

My approach as a tutor is rooted in empathy, clarity, and empowerment. I tailor each session to the student’s individual needs—whether it’s crafting standout college essays, preparing for standardized tests, or tackling challenging STEM coursework. I begin by understanding their goals and learning style, then break down complex topics using analogies, visual aids, and real-world examples. A typical lesson involves a quick check-in, focused instruction, and actionable takeaways to build both skill and confidence. What sets me apart is my unique perspective as a first-generation, low-income MIT graduate in CS & AI, a QuestBridge Scholar, and a current MIT Educational Counselor who reviews applications and interviews prospective students. I work especially well with high school and early college students—particularly those applying to selective schools or navigating rigorous academic paths—and my goal is always to create a supportive, motivating learning environment that helps them thrive.
