My teaching philosophy extracts itself from the saying, "Teaching and Education are not one size fits all" and "Good Teachers are those who show you where to look but don't tell you what to see". That's why my main goal in any teaching endeavor is to encourage the students to ask the basic fundamentals of Mathematics and get them answered in an innovative and interactive way making maths a creative part of their lives and not a burden. Since theory and practice are intricately linked I give adequate emphasis on both to truly nurture the student's understanding of the subject. I believe in a two way learning process, much as I hope my students would learn from me, I equally appreciate learning from them as well which helps me to understand that each student learns differently so I constantly reflect on my own teaching styles and try to incorporate every child's inputs to provide them with best personalized education experience using real life examples, case studies, dialogues and diagrams. Hence, "Teach me I will forget, Show me I will remember, Involve me I will understand" is what I have learned and is what I impart

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Math is so much more than numbers and equations. It's the language that helps us understand patterns and how things connect in the world. From simple addition to more advanced stuff like calculus, math helps solve problems and explains how things work.

My interest in math started in primary school because I was good at it, but as I learned more, I became fascinated by how deep and meaningful math is. Over time, I got even more interested in the subject, especially after learning about the history and the brilliant minds behind many mathematical discoveries.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

Honestly, my motivation to teach comes from my own experience of not having great math teachers when I was younger. I always felt that with better teachers, I could've achieved even more. So now, I want to be that teacher who makes math easier and more enjoyable for students.

I've noticed that many students fear math, but I know it's not a scary subject if taught well. By using real-life examples and breaking things down, I help students see that math is fun and useful, not just about numbers.
  • How does your work help society?

Through my work, I help students develop important problem-solving skills that are useful in everyday life and future careers. By making math understandable, I'm helping them build a strong foundation that they can use in fields like engineering, technology, and even finance.

More than that, I'm helping students become more confident and think logically, which helps them handle challenges better. I believe education, especially in math, is one way to empower people and make them more capable of contributing to society.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

I don't have a single role model, but I'm inspired by the great mathematicians like Aryabhatta, Newton, and Cantor. They were all pioneers who changed the way we think about the world with their discoveries.

For example, Aryabhatta's work in algebra and astronomy showed how math can explain natural phenomena. Newton's calculus changed the way we understand motion, and Cantor's work on infinity helped push math into new, exciting areas. These people showed how math is not just about solving problems, but about thinking in new ways, and that's what I aim to teach.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside of teaching, I like to stay active. I play sports like badminton and basketball-they keep me physically fit and also help me think strategically. I also love trekking and hiking because being outdoors helps clear my mind and gives me a chance to reconnect with nature. It's a great way to disconnect from the busy routine and stay healthy, both physically and mentally.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

I've had a few students who came from non-math backgrounds and were preparing for their MBA, where they had to study statistics. Naturally, they were really nervous about math and just wanted to pass the exam somehow. Many of them had struggled with math throughout high school and carried that fear into their MBA studies.

At first, it was challenging to teach them because they wanted to cram the material and get it over with. But I knew that if I could make the concepts more relatable, especially since probability and statistics are so connected to real-world problems, they would start to understand and appreciate the subject. By the end of the course, these students weren't just focused on passing the exam-they had developed a genuine interest in the material.

Moments like these bring a lot of satisfaction. Seeing students shift from fearing math to enjoying and engaging with it is one of the biggest joys of teaching.
