About Zakk
I have always been passionate about music and the way it allows people to express themselves creatively. As a songwriter, performer and multi-instrumentalist, I have spent many years developing my own skills and understanding the challenges that come with learning an instrument and finding your own musical voice.
I want to teach because I enjoy helping others discover the same excitement and confidence that music has given me. I believe everyone learns differently, so I focus on creating a supportive and encouraging environment where students can progress at their own pace while developing skills that are meaningful to them.
Having studied Songwriting at degree level, released my own music, performed live and worked on a variety of musical projects, I bring both practical experience and a strong understanding of musicianship into my lessons. Whether someone is picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to develop their creativity and performance skills, I aim to make learning enjoyable, rewarding and inspiring.

My approach to tutoring is centred around helping students become confident, creative musicians while building strong technical foundations. I believe lessons should be tailored around each student’s goals, whether that is learning their favourite songs, improving technique, developing their own songwriting, preparing for performances, or working towards music college/university auditions.
I use a relaxed and encouraging teaching style, combining practical playing exercises with musical understanding. Alongside guitar technique, I can help students develop rhythm, chord knowledge, creativity, songwriting skills and confidence as performers. I aim to make lessons engaging by connecting technical development with the styles and music that inspire each student.
Lessons are typically 45 minutes to an hour, with content adapted depending on the student’s age, experience and goals.
I am a music graduate with a First-Class degree in Songwriting, an experienced live performer and a recording artist. I have played guitar for over 11 years and also play bass guitar, drums and piano. I have recorded and released my own music, performed live, organised music events, and have experience working with different aspects of performance and music production.
My lessons are suitable for beginners through to more experienced musicians, including those looking to develop their songwriting, performance skills or prepare for further study in music.
