About Christopher James

Hello and warm greetings. My name is Christopher. I was born in Canada have had the opportunity to travel to several countries, meet interesting people from all over the world and have been a part of many incredible journeys through the teaching of languages . I love language, the exchange of experiences, culture and ideas.

As a professional, I am student/client focused. Your goals become my goals and we will work together closely to ensure that these goals or not only meet but exceeded. I have been teaching English for over 12 years both in Canada and living and working abroad in Brazil where I owned a private English school. I am a native English speaker and am also fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and pre-intermediate level in Spanish.

Beyond my 12 years of experience I have a joint Bachelors Degree: BA History / Political Science from the University of Northern British Columbia (2005) and I am TESOL certified through the Academy of Languages and Training Canada (ATC - Vancouver 2010).

I teach all levels and all abilities from basic to advanced. I specialize in business related English and fluency test preparation such as: IELTS, TOEFEL and TOEIC.

I am here: If you are looking for something different, if you learn in a different way, if you have specific needs or focus, if you have limited time to reach your goals, then come with me and let`s get going. I know that you will grow and reach your goals in less time than you may think.

I use a variety of platforms to realize the classes including but not limited to: Skype, Google Meet, Google Hangouts, Zoom and others whatever works best for you. Enough about me, I want to get to know you. Let`s get started.

About the lesson

I specialize in private one on one classes and small group classes. I utilize a variety of methods and materials customizing lesson plans for the needs, and goals of each student to create dynamic lessons full of useful content. Language is not lineal and English language instruction does not fit into a one size fits all methodology. Often, students come with an existing base and understanding of the language but still need to fill in the gaps in their language knowledge. This is where private and tailored one on one classes produce the best results.

Perhaps most important to identify the student's learning type and passing tasks and materials more aligned with how each student learns in the best form possible. This results in students reaching their goals faster and going beyond the reasons they initially began private studies with an English teacher / tutor.

I offer an experimental class FREE to evaluate the students level, understand their goals and needs and identify their learning type. Based on the evaluation and interview, I create a study plan that is agreed on by the student which defines the a number of classes in a package and / or the period of time, interval and frequency of classes.
