Hi, I’m Mailen, a native English speaker passionate about helping Spanish speakers gain real, practical confidence in spoken English.

I know that learning a language isn’t just about grammar rules — it’s about feeling comfortable enough to actually use it, whether that’s in a job interview, a work meeting, or a casual conversation with friends. My lessons are built around real conversation, so you’re not just memorizing vocabulary lists — you’re practicing English the way it’s actually spoken.

I bring patience, structure, and genuine care to every lesson. Each session is planned with a clear goal in mind, but flexible enough to focus on what matters most to you — whether that’s improving pronunciation, building fluency, or preparing for a specific situation like an exam or interview. I give honest, constructive feedback, because I want you to see real progress, not just feel good in the moment.

About the lesson

I focus on real, practical conversation rather than heavy grammar drilling. Lessons center on speaking from minute one — I believe you learn to speak by speaking, with correction and vocabulary built in naturally as we go. I use a mix of:

• Guided conversation on topics relevant to the student’s life (work, travel, daily situations)
• Roleplay for real-world scenarios (job interviews, ordering food, phone calls)
• Gentle, real-time correction — noting mistakes without interrupting flow, then reviewing them at the end
• Listening practice with native-speed audio/video to build comprehension for real English, not textbook English

A typical lesson (60 minutes)

1. Warm-up (5–10 min): casual chat to ease in and review vocabulary from last time
2. Focus topic (25–30 min): a themed conversation or roleplay tied to the student’s goals
3. Targeted correction (10 min): review recurring mistakes, pronunciation, or phrasing
4. Wrap-up (5–10 min): recap new vocabulary/phrases, assign light practice for next time (e.g., a short video to watch, phrases to use during the week)
