About Jihane Mariya

I am a Sciences Po Paris student specializing in business law, currently on exchange at Columbia Law School. Fully bilingual in French and English - having earned the French OIB Baccalaureate (American Section) and studied in both France and the United States - I am well-qualified to help you improve your French language skills.

I offer lessons either in person in New York City or online, depending on your preferences.

I also hold the BAFA certification and have extensive experience working with children, including summer camp counseling, babysitting, and academic tutoring. In addition to French, I have previously tutored students in English, Mathematics, and History.

About the lesson

I tailor each lesson to the student’s needs, goals, and level. A typical session is divided into short, engaging sections that keep the student focused: practice exercises or mock exams when relevant, help with homework, writing practice, and oral conversation at the end of the lesson (especially when the student is getting tired). I am very flexible and always adapt the rhythm and content to what works best for the student. I also have extensive experience tutoring children and teenagers.

What sets me apart is my strong command of both English and French - developed through studying law in both languages - and my ability to make learning enjoyable and confidence - building. I pay close attention to each student’s learning style and try to introduce stimulating topics in language classes, such as current affairs, history, or art (for example, article analysis).

My lessons are suitable for all ages and levels, from young learners to adults, including students preparing for exams such as the DELF.
