About Jane

Bonjour! I am a native French speaker with a deep passion for language and communication. I have spent the last six years as a French tutor on Superprof, building on my earlier experience of four years of peer tutoring in high school where I assisted students with French, Spanish, and mathematics.

My professional background includes working in bilingual roles for the Government of Ontario, including time spent at the Ministry of Education. This work has given me a practical understanding of how French is used in professional Canadian settings, which allows me to provide students with valuable insights if they are aiming for bilingual career opportunities or working in high level corporate environments.

Whether you are looking to master French for academic success, including those in immersion programs who need support with subjects like math taught in French, or you are preparing for an immigration interview, advancing your career, or simply picking up a new hobby, I am here to help you navigate the process.

My background is rooted in a strong commitment to language, evidenced by my Honour Certificate of Bilingual Studies in Extended French, my Honour Certificate of Achievement in the Spanish International Language Program, and my experience as a two-time winner at the school board level for the French Public Speaking Competition (Concours d’Art Oratoire). I am organized, patient, and dedicated to helping you gain the confidence to use French in the real world.

My approach to helping you learn French is simple: you are the priority. I understand that everyone processes information differently, so I start by getting to know your unique style.

During our sessions, we will experiment with various techniques, such as visual aids, repetition, contextual connections, and structured writing, to see what truly works for you. Since I have a standard French accent, I am well positioned to help you refine your pronunciation and achieve a natural, clear cadence. Perfect! I’m very glad that I chose Jane as my tutor on Superprof. During the lessons, we practised speaking a lot, which really helped me gain confidence. After each lesson, I received homework with the new words we had used in our discussions, which was very helpful.

I especially appreciated that when I didn’t understand something Jane said in French, she would explain it in a different way still in French instead of switching to another language. That really helped me improve my listening skills and think more in French.

I highly recommend her as an online teacher!

1. When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field? *
Ever since I was young, I spoke French in a Francophone household. As I grew older, I realized how it is such a privilege to know French natively in a society where bilingualism is treasured. That is why I worked hard to preserve my French skills and got formal education in French. I then decided to help others who are eager to improve their skills but do not have someone to teach them.
2. What makes you passionate about your subject?
I have always loved to travel, learn about different cultures and languages, and meet people from different backgrounds. As an immigrant, I was raised up speaking French at home and have always valued the privilege I have to be constantly immersed in a French environment. With all my experiences and language skills, many opportunities and doors opened up for me as well as I was blessed enough to make lasting relationships with friends worldwide. This is why I am passionate about French!
3. What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
I love teaching and sparking my students' interest in French and just overall creating a positive impact in their lives. What makes me a "Superprof" is my ability to go above and beyond for my students to make sure they get the best French education that they can that is tailored to their unique way of learning and needs.
4. Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
My parents who are teachers who come from families of teachers both inspired me to teach. I believe teaching is a part of my family's legacy and a quality that has been instilled in me because I'm naturally drawn to teaching. Seeing my parents teach made me realize how rewarding and fulfilling it can be.
5. What are your keys to success?
My keys to success are putting in the effort, staying positive, and learning and growing from mistakes!
