About Wahyu

Hi, I'm a native Indonesian speaker originally from Indonesia, now based in Melbourne. I recently completed my Master of Applied Linguistics at the University of Melbourne, where I deepened my understanding of how languages are learned, taught, and used in real-world contexts.
Before moving to Australia, I spent several years working as an English teacher at a private tutoring center in Indonesia. That experience taught me what it truly takes to help someone learn a new language — patience, adaptability, and the ability to explain things in ways that click for each individual student. It also gave me a firsthand appreciation of the challenges language learners face, which shapes how I approach every lesson I teach today.
Growing up speaking Indonesian as my first language, I have an intuitive grasp of its nuances — the rhythm of everyday conversation, the difference between formal and informal registers, and the cultural context that makes the language truly come alive.
I'm passionate about making Indonesian accessible and enjoyable for learners of all backgrounds. I believe language learning works best when it's personalized, low-pressure, and connected to things that genuinely interest the student. About the lesson

As a native Indonesian speaker with a Master of Applied Linguistics from the University of Melbourne, I bring both authentic language knowledge and an evidence-based teaching approach to every lesson.
My lessons are tailored to each student's goals — whether you're a complete beginner, preparing for travel, studying Indonesian at school or university, or simply wanting to hold real conversations with confidence. I focus on practical communication first, building your speaking and listening skills alongside reading and writing at a pace that suits you.
Each session typically runs 60 minutes and is structured around your needs: vocabulary building, grammar explained clearly in context, pronunciation practice, and real-life conversation. I use communicative teaching methods developed through my linguistics studies, so lessons feel natural rather than like rote memorisation.
I welcome all ages and levels, from absolute beginners to intermediate learners looking to refine their fluency.
