About Joe

I'm a French graduate with an upper second class honours degree and hands-on classroom teaching experience, so I understand both the language in depth and how to teach it effectively.

I spent a year living in France, which shaped the way I teach. I focus on real, usable French rather than just grammar rules, helping students build genuine confidence in speaking, writing, and understanding the language.

I've taught students ranging from complete beginners to those preparing for GCSE and A-level exams, and I enjoy adapting my approach to suit each learner's goals, whether that's exam success, conversational fluency, or simply a love of the language.

Patient, organised, and genuinely invested in my students' progress, I aim to make every lesson structured, supportive, and enjoyable, so you always know what you're working towards and feel confident getting there.

About the lesson

My lessons are a blend of spoken practice, grammar and real-world context, drawing on my time in France to bring authentic vocabulary, culture and pronunciation into every session. We will speak in French as much as possible throughout the session for full immersion.

I start with a short assessment to understand your level and goals, then build a personalised plan around it. For exam students, I work directly from the relevant exam syllabus.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, though I can offer shorter sessions for beginners or focused exam revision.

I hold an upper second class honours degree in French, including distinction in French speaking, and have real classroom language teaching experience.

The lessons are tailored for complete beginners through to advanced secondary school students preparing for GCSE or A-level. I also welcome adult learners looking to build conversational confidence for travel, work, or personal interest.
