About Francisco

About Francisco

I am a musician and educator from Mexico, currently based in the Netherlands, with over a decade of experience performing, conducting, and teaching at a professional level. I hold a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Boston Conservatory and a Master of Music in Conducting from the University of Michigan, where I am completing my Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting — one of the most rigorous and competitive graduate programs in the United States.

Throughout my academic and professional career, I have worked alongside world-class musicians, scholars, and educators, an environment that has instilled in me exceptionally high standards — not only for performance, but for teaching. I know what focused, disciplined, and effective instruction looks like, and I bring that same standard to every student I work with.
As a native Spanish speaker from Mexico with professional-level English, I am uniquely positioned to teach Spanish to English-speaking learners. I understand the linguistic and cultural gaps between both languages intimately, which allows me to explain things clearly, correct errors precisely, and accelerate your progress in ways that a non-native teacher simply cannot.

I am patient, organized, and deeply committed to my students' growth. I take the time to understand each student's goals before designing a learning path that is realistic, motivating, and genuinely effective. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced speaker looking to refine your fluency, you will find in me a dedicated professional who takes your progress seriously.

About the lesson

About My Spanish Lessons
My name is Francisco, and I am a native Spanish speaker from Mexico with graduate-level academic training in the United States. I have spent years teaching and coaching in highly demanding musical and academic environments, which has sharpened my ability to explain complex concepts clearly, adapt to each individual learner, and keep students genuinely engaged.

My approach is structured but flexible. I believe that language learning works best when grammar and conversation are taught together — not in isolation. From the very first lesson, you will be speaking and producing real Spanish, not just memorizing rules. I use a communicative method grounded in your specific goals, vocabulary relevant to your life and work, and constant encouragement of active output.

A typical lesson begins with a short review of the previous session, followed by focused instruction on a grammar point or vocabulary area, then applied conversation practice around a real-world topic — a business meeting, a travel scenario, a current event, or whatever is most relevant to you. I give structured feedback throughout, not just at the end, so you learn in real time.

What sets me apart is the combination of native fluency, professional-level English, and graduate training at American universities. I understand precisely how English speakers think, where they get confused, and how to bridge the gap efficiently. I also bring the discipline and precision of a professional musician to my teaching — lessons are purposeful, focused, and never wasted.

These lessons are for: adult learners at any level — complete beginners, intermediate speakers who feel stuck, advanced students refining their fluency, international professionals needing business Spanish, diplomats, academics, expats or studying online from anywhere in the world.
