About Erika

I am Peruvian, I have a Spanish father and a Peruvian mother. I was a Oratory teacher in Peru and worked for multiple organisations in the UK and Spain. I am certified personal coach and I am currently studying a MA French and Russian studies in the University of Edinburgh.
I like hiking, I love dancing and in my free time I like to learn new things: recently I started learning the Chinese language, and origami.
At home, we speak Czech, English and Spanish; and I am ready to take you for a ride into an exciting program to immerse yourself in Spanish and Hispanic cultures.

About the lesson

Learning a new language is like learning to dance, it requires practice and constant exposure to the targeted language.
My sessions last 45 min to 1 hr are tailored to each individual. We will work on the following areas:

Grammar:
We are all familiar with the saying: "Dale un pescado a un hombre y lo alimentarás por un día, enséñale a pescar y lo alimentarás toda la vida" - Give a man a fish, and you will feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". It is important to learn the syntax of the language, this is what we do with our kids, we repeat sentences over and over again and over time they acquire the neccesary vocabulary that allows them to form their own sentences which then develops into beautiful compositions, writings, speeches, conversations, discussions, etc. Knowing the grammar will boost your confidence to find your own style of communicating with others. We will use a book and exercises to practice this.

Oral:
Listening and speaking go hand in hand. Listening to the sounds often enable your hearing to filter the sounds that identify your targeted language, to then more accurately replicate them with your mouth. This articulation process can seem daunting, but I will be there with you every step of the way. We will use videos, music, weekly topics of discussion, and other interactive exercises.

Read and Write:
We will also work in practicing your reading and comprehension and by writing and producing short text we will boot your language development.

Once again, my program is tailored to your needs, or we can work and reinforce weak areas of your language learning at school. I teach children and adults: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. As important as it will be working in your language skills, we will talk about traditions and culture.

True to be told, I've got more experience working with children, in fact, I lead a multilingual community where we promote language and culture acquisition from early childhood.

- First trial lesson (30 min): To get to know each other and get to you know your needs as well as going through the material and available times for our sessions.

-I recommend from 2 to 3 lessons per week.

-I am available in the evenings during the week and free on weekends.
