About Laia
My name is Laia Rodriguez and I was born in beautiful Barcelona, Spain. My native languages are both Spanish and Catalan. Languages have been my passion since I was 12 years old, when I started learning a third language on my own. Quite a challenge at a young age! I started my career as a language trainer and facilitator in 2019 first as a volunteer and later on professionally at the University of Toronto. I have taught 4 different languages: Spanish, Catalan, English and Serbian and I love them just as much.

My lessons are based on the communicative approach. In other words, you will start speaking Spanish from lesson 1!
Do you find grammar boring? It does not have to be! We will integrate grammar in real-world based situations and conversations so you will learn grammar without realizing.
This is a breakdown of a typical lesson with me:
1. Homework and previous class review. No time for homework? No worries! You decide the amount of time to practice Spanish outside the classroom.
2. Grammar intro. Forget about boring grammar lectures. Grammar will be presented in an interactive way, like a small game you will surely find interesting!
3. Communicative section. Here is where we practice grammar in context: through readings, videos, songs and other materials you will improve your Spanish without realizing!
